Tacfire offers tactical firearms training to law enforcement and the general public. We understand each group's special needs and we have catered each of our programs to reflect the optimal training techniques necessary to support those needs.

We have categorized our training into major service areas:

Defensive Handgun For Women - This course provides a variety of basic
defensive handgun techniques. This class is for both beginning and intermediate shooters. Topics to Include: Defensive handgun techniques, fundamentals of marksmanship, master grip, administrative gun handeling Vs defensive gun handeling, shoot don't shoot, situational awareness, verbal challenge, color codes of awareness, layers of response and more!

Defensive Handgun 1&2 - These courses provide a variety of basic defensive handgun techniques. Topics to Include: Fundamentals of marksmanship, pistol presentation from holster, master grip, administrative gun handling Vs defensive gun handling, shoot don't shoot, situational awareness, stoppage reduction, situational awareness, verbal challenge, color codes of awareness, layers of response and more! verbal challenge and more!

Defensive Handgun 3&4 - These courses provide a variety of intermediate defensive handgun techniques. Topics to Include: Defensive manipulation skills; movement; cover; 360 degree scanning and more!

Defensive Handgun 5&6 - These courses provide a variety of advanced defensive handgun techniques. Topics to Include: movement; one-handed manipulation skills; close quarter shooting techniques; cover, and more!

Handgun Practice - Practice the techniques you've learned.


ASP Tactical Baton Course - ASP Basic Certification (ABC) training teaches law enforcement officers Tactical Baton fundamentals in an operational setting. The program provides portation (carrying) and presentation (drawing) procedures as well as striking techniques. This program is based on modern, court-defensible police standards for less lethal use of force. This is a participatory seminar.

Defensive Rifle - This two-day course provides a wide variety of AR-15/M1A rifle techniques, from basic to advanced. Topics to Include: Care and cleaning; how to zero: shooting positions; ready and search positions; administrative handling Vs defensive handling; transitions to handgun; proper use of cover; reduced light shooting; stoppage reduction and more!

Introduction to Defensive Handgun - This course introduces the student to safely handling and accurately firing a handgun. This class is for the beginning shooter.

John Farnam's Concealed Carry Weapons and Tactics - This course is for students with permits to carry concealed weapons and off-duty carry for police officers.

John Farnam's "Patrol Rifle" Instructor Course - For law enforcement.

John Farnam's Small Arms Training Weekend - This class is by invitation only to advanced students.

MK Ballistic Systems - The course is designed for law enforcement and corrections personnel who may be faced with situations requiring specialty munitions as a means of resolving potentially dangerous incidents, with less lethal force. Both classroom and practical application training will be provided to students.

Precision Rifle I - The focus of this class is to develop the fundamental long-range rifle skills necessary to compile a data book. Topics to Include: elements of marksmanship; shooting positions; shooting gear; cold shot zero; data every 100 yards out to 600 yards, and more!

Precision Rifle II - Topics to Include: Range cards; unknown distance shooting; range estimation techniques; target identification; field exercises; teamwork & communication; 100- to 1000-yd shooting; fieldcraft; unconventional shooting positions, and more!

Precision Rifle III - By invitation only.

Tactical Handgun Instructor Training School - The TACFIRE Law Enforcement Tactical Handgun Instructor School is intended for the public and private law enforcement firearms instructor, already proficient in teaching safe handling and shooting of the law enforcement handgun and who wishes to further develop his or her tactical shooting program.

Defensive Shotgun I - This course provides a wide variety of defensive shotgun techniques. Topics to Include: manipulation skills; shooting positions; ready & search positions; pattern tests; combat loading; administrative unload; the sling, and more!

Defensive Shotgun II - This course provides a wide variety of advanced defensive shotgun techniques. Topics to Include: combat manipulation skills; one-handed manipulation; movement; cover; and more!

Tactical Shotgun Instructor Development School - The NRA Law Enforcement Tactical Shotgun Instructor Development School's purpose is to increase each student's individual firearms instructor skills. The curriculum is designed to assist students in developing, preparing and conducting safe, effective, reality-based and agency-related law enforcement shotgun training and programs, both in the classroom and on the range.

Urban Survival Guns and Gear - Focus on portable survival gear that can get you home from just about anywhere with food and water for 3 days. Also, personal protection gear for almost any situation.

Vang Comp Tactical Shotgun Instructor Course - This course presents technical material and operational techniques for Vang Comp Tactical Shotguns in drills and shooting exercises intended for law enforcement. The major emphasis is placed on operational needs of individuals by developing essential weapon-handling skills that will increase each student's proficiency.

Ventura County CCW Course - This class is for individuals who are applying with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department to receive a Concealed Carry Weapons permit.
