  • Proper care and cleaning of weapons

The emphasis for this class will be the development of quality tactical rifle instructors. Students are expected to have a better than average ability to manipulate their assigned weapons in a safe manner. Live fire exercises are for the purpose of developing effective coaching techniques, designing courses of fire and developing the ability to recognize and correct shooting deficiencies as orchestrated by the instructors.

This course meets the legislative mandate to possess long/short barreled rifles PC33220 and the POST commission regulation 1081 This course also complies with the legislative content and mandates of AB 392, SB 230 and PC835a
 

This will be an interactive class with student participation being required during all aspects of the training.  Throughout the week, there will be individual and group projects to be completed.  By the last day, each student will have been required to make presentations and run several range drills.

Throughout the week, each student will be evaluated on the following:

  • Firearms Safety

  • Rifle Manipulation Skills

  • Rifle Marksmanship

  • Effective Coaching Techniques

  • Verbal Communication Skills

  • Positive Attitude

Each student is required to bring the following equipment to the course:

 

  • Duty pistol, 3 mags and related gear.

  • AR15 Rifle w/Sling & (6) 30 round mags.

  • Magazine carriers and Tactical Vest (if used by agency).

  • Range safety equipment (ear protection, eye protection, hat etc.)

  • Flashlight & weapon mounted light

  • Body armor (only if required by your agency)

  • Note taking material & Sharpie

  • 250 rounds of pistol ammunition

  • 1000 rounds rifle ammo

  • Rifle Optics required

  • Suppressors recommended

  • Whistle and timing device (i.e. stopwatch)

  • Cleaning equipment

  • Foul weather gear

  • Training aids for their class presentation (Red guns etc…)

 

SUCCESS CRITERIA

To successfully complete this course and be certified as a Tactical Rifle Instructor, each student must:

 

  • Demonstrate safe weapon handling under all conditions at all times.

  • Demonstrate above average weapon handling skills.

  • Demonstrate above average knowledge of their weapons systems.

  • Have the appropriate equipment

  • Failure to have above may be cause for dismissal on first day.

  • Turn in all required assignments timely

  • Pass the shooting proficiency course of fire with 90% accuracy and no safety violations (Three attempts allowed)

  • Receive average or better evaluations on presentation and communication skills

  • Pass the final written exam with 80% or better

 

FEE $750 Payable to: Tactical Firearms Training Institute Inc.

Payment by credit card or check is required a minimum of 30 days in advance of first day of class. Nonrefundable, if student cannot attend class the tuition will be put towards future classes.
